MAN OF GOD hits English cinemas after global success

London, August 24th 2022 – “Man of God”, the award-winning box office hit that depicts the inspiring life of the widely venerated Greek Orthodox saint, Saint Nektarios of Aegina, written and directed by Yelena Popovic starring Hellenic Academy Award winner Aris Servetalis (“The Waiter”), Alexander Petrov (Luc Besson’s “Anna”) and Golden Globe winner Mickey Rourke (“The Wrestler”) releases across the UK exclusively in select Odeon cinemas on September 9th, 10th and 11th 2022 only.

“Man of God” is a box office phenomenon that won the hearts of the public in the U.S, Canada, Australia, Greece, France, Russia and Serbia. In addition to the UK’s upcoming September 9th, 10th and 11th release, “Man of God” is also scheduled to release the 3rd, 4th and 5th of September in Germany, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, Norway and Luxembourg. The music for the film was composed by two-time French Cesar winner Zbigniew Preisner with special performance by Golden Globe winner Lisa Gerrard.

The movie will be shown in the following cities exclusively at Odeon cinemas: Lee Valley, Acton, Haymarket, Holloway, Derby, Kettering, Birmingham, Leeds Bradford and Leicester.

The life of St. Nektarios of Aegina from Greece was one of persecution and prosecution. A priest of the common people, his humility annoyed the prideful orthodox clergy, his devotion aroused their suspicions, and they slandered him. Despite being stripped of his church and exiled from Egypt and the parishioners who loved him, Nektarios let his faith in God be his best defence.

The film has won multiple international awards including the Audience Award at the Moscow International Film Festival, the Audience Award at the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival, the Best International Film Award at the Siena International Film Festival, Italy, and the Audience Award and Best Director Award at the St. Andrews Film Festival.

The film was produced by Simeon Entertainment and View Master Films in association with the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi, St. Maxim The Greek Institute, The Holy Metropolis of Mesogaia and Lavreotiki and Eurogroup, and with the support of Ingenuity-FO, Deep Dream, NP Insurance, Minetta Insurance and EKOME (The National Centre of Audiovisual Media and Communication).
